The Don't Stop The Music Instrument Amnesty has begun!

Do you have an instrument lying unused in a cupboard or your attic? It’s time to dig it out, dust it off and donate it to James Rhodes’ Don’t Stop The Music instrument amnesty.

This ambitious, nationwide project is massive undertaking, with one simple goal: to collect as many musical instruments as possible and put them in the hands of primary school children across the UK.

And you can be part of it.

From Monday 8 September to Friday 17 October 2014, you can able to donate your musical instrument (or instruments) to the amnesty, simply by dropping it off at your nearest Oxfam shop.

It will then be picked up by Don’t Stop The Music’s official parcel carriers, YodelDirect; taken to a Central London hub for assessment, cleaning and minor repairs; and then delivered to one of 150 primary schools, carefully selected out of hundreds of applicants as having the greatest need.

You've got six whole weeks to drop off your instrument, but don't leave it to the last minute! Pledge your instrument online (select the Donate An Instrument tab at the top to get started), find its case or wrap it up well, look up your nearest Oxfam shop and then make the drop! Just make sure you check the restrictions before leave the house as some instruments, such as keyboards and electric guitars, can unfortunately not be accepted by the amnesty.

Who knows where your donation will end up…
