Dick Stead donates clarinet

Executive Chairman of Yodel – the official parcel carrier for the Don't Stop The Music instrument amnesty – donates his treasured clarinet at Oxfam Marylebone.

"I’ve had this clarinet for 48 years! However, I only played it for about 15 of those," he admitted. "My mother was a musician; she played accordion on the stage in the days of the dance bands, so that’s how I got into it."

The Yodel boss was at the shop for the official launch of the amnesty – and joins the likes of Labrinth, Andy Lawson and Bombay Bicycle Club's Jack Steadman, who have all pledged instruments to the amnesty.

"I had one last play of it last night," he said, as he handed over his clarinet. "Just some scales – my wife said it was lovely. I still manage to squeak it though..." He's now moved onto the didgeridoo instead: "No one can tell when you make a mistake on it!"

YodelDirect from Yodel is the official parcel service for the Don't Stop The Music instrument amnesty and responsible for collecting the instruments dropped off at Oxfam and delivering them to the UK schools selected to receive instruments.
